Hi Reader, Now I don’t know about you, but we have always believed that travel should be available, no matter your circumstances. Because travel is about the moments that takes your breath away and leave memories for a lifetime. And after 15+ years of exploring the globe, there is one place we can’t stop talking about and that is Sri Lanka. But before you pack your bag and book your tickets, Sri Lanka might not be for everyone. However, if you love a mix of adventure, culture, wildlife and beaches, it might just be the place that makes your travel dreams come true. And to make that decision for you, here are just some insights from our experiences: 1 – If you love meeting and connecting with locals Sri Lankans are some of the most hospitable people in this world. They’ll welcome you with laughter, chatter and delicious food and drinks. Rather than it feeling like a holiday, it’s more like you're at home with your family. The warmth of the locals, whether that's walking down the street, or booked into a homestay, is unforgettable. 2 – If you love an adventure Sri Lanka has a whopping eight UNESCO World Heritage sites. That is a lot for a tiny island in the Indian Ocean. You can go white water rafting, surfing, hiking and climbing. Our favourite spots are climbing Pidurangala Rock and Sigiriya Rock, taking the scenic train ride from Kandy to Ella, spotting leopards on safari in Yala National Park, or releasing turtles on the south coast of Sri Lanka. Every adventure leaves you with stories you’ll want to tell for years. 3 – You appreciate history and culture Take a step back in history to around 2000+ years ago in Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura, the once capitals until it was moved to Colombo. Wander around the ancient ruins and temples, and sacred trees. It’s humbling, inspiring and impossible to forget. 4 – Relaxing beaches After all the adventures, you might need some time to relax and there is no better place than the beaches that surround the island. Just imagine, relaxing back on a sun lounger on a private beach, listening to the waves crash against the shore, and the hot sun shining down. Take a cooling splash in the water. This will round off your epic trip. So, is Sri Lanka your perfect adventure? If you are anything like us, and love connecting with the locals, diving into the culture, spotting wildlife and a little bit of adventure, then the answer is a resounding yes, you’ll love Sri Lanka and should start planning your trip.
